The competition is organised by the Department of Education of the City Council of Santiago de Compostela, in collaboration with KALANDRAKA Editora. he initiative, promoted as an integral part of the Reading Promotion Campaign that both entities have organised since 2001, is aimed at fostering this literary and artistic genre, in addition to promoting the city abroad.
The purpose of the rules of this call is to promote the literary and artistic production of books for children and young adults.
Entrants are asked to submit a project of picture book: a book in which the story is told through images, or through images and text that complement each other. The books may be presented in any of the official languages of the Iberian Peninsula (Galician, Catalan, Basque, Castilian Spanish and Portuguese), and must be original and unpublished.
There is no entry fee to participate!

The projects may be presented in any size, technique and format, but may not contain any more than 40 inner pages (excluding covers and endpapers).

Who may enter ?
The competition is open to artist from around the world.
A single prize of € 9000. The prize will be subject to the terms and conditions which are applicable in each case. The prize money will not be paid until the author or authors deliver the completed work ready for ublication.
The prize-winning work will be published in all of the official languages of the peninsula (Galician, Catalan, Basque, Castilian Spanish and Portuguese) by the publisher Kalandraka in November 2021, which will sign the necessary publishing contracts 21.
